Convention Corner '99 Denver, August 11~15

Abstract

W elcome to Convention Corner. For more than 125 years, visitors from all over the world have journeyed to Denver, Colorado to visit the beautiful park system, majestic mountain scenery and the wonderful collection of restaurants, museums, and cultural facilities. This year the American Federation of Aviculture travels to Denver, Colorado.

The AFA is celebrating its Silver Anniversary, so be sure not to miss the fun and excitement of the 25th Anniversary. And while attending Convention '99, you won't want to miss The Wild Zoo Tour and The Prime Rib Casino Night!

First, the AF A will be heading for the wild side - The Denver Zoo. After the Board of Delegates meeting on Wednesday, August 11th, join hundreds of other bird lovers for an afternoon at the zoo. The Denver Zoo is home to thousands of exotic animals in spacious, naturalistic habitats, including the Bird World exhibit. There are over 160 species and 450 birds at the Denver Zoo. The main attraction is Bird World containing nine exhibit rooms and sections. The largest exhibit is the Rain Forest Room, which houses 24 species of birds including a large variety of softbills.

In addition to seeing the exhibits on the outside, there will be three special tours offered into Bird World. Be sure to get in line early, space is limited. Not to worry, there are plenty of other exhibits to see; Primate Panorama, indoor/outdoor home for endangered primates, and Tropical Discovery, a complete rainforest under glass!

Included in this wonderful afternoon will be a bar-b-que lunch featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, potato and pasta salads, cole slaw, baked beans, chips, cookies, sodas, iced tea, water, and beer. Wow, all in one day'

Be sure you save room for The Prime Rib Casino Night. On Thursday Evening, August 12th, the AFA is traveling through the majestic mountains to Central City - "The Richest Square Mile on Earth." Once on board the motor coaches, we will ride 45 minutes to The Central Palace Casino to enjoy a wonderful Prime Rib Dinner. Be sure to come hungry, we are having an all-you-can-eat prime rib dinner including potatoes, vegetables, two salads, rolls and butter, coffee, tea, ice cream, two cocktails, plus four dollars in blackjack coupons. After dinner, be sure to try your luck on the slots, blackjack or poker tables. May the best of luck be with you.
