der vogelfanger: A GENETIC OVERVIEW

Abstract

A discussion of genetics is likely to begin
with a biography of Gregor Mendel
and how he made his discoveries. The
story is too well known to repeat here.
Mendel discovered that genes operate in
pairs; one from each parent, that genes
may be dominant or recessive, that one
of a pair may be dominant and the other
recessive (heterozygous = split = carrier)
or that both may be either dominant or
recessive (homozygous= pure), that some
dominant genes are weak (incomplete
dominance).
