~e AF A's Red Siskin Project is rais- 1 'i~g monies for isoenzyme analysis
kits (see May/ June 1994 Watchbird
anicle on page 12. In this same article,
a VCR tape of Professor Smith and
Antonio Rivero 's presentations at
Siskin Summit '93 was offered. They
discussed faunal preserves the Venezuelan
government is providing for
protection of the few Red Siskins left
in the wild. They also provided valuable
information on food sou rces,
habitat, nesting and trapping of the
wild Red Siskins. This tape also
includes a nice production of the RSP ,
detailing aspects of the project. This 2-
hour video sells for $22.95 , which
includes shipping costs.
The March/ April 1994 Watchbird
issue, page 60, showed two pieces of
artwork which were donated to the
project. Signed and numbered prints
are now being offered for sale.
Jay Fullmer's "Red Siskins on a
Pringamosa Plant" sell for $25 for a
black and white signed and numbered
print, or $50 for a hand-painted print.
This is a very clean piece of artwork
with nice detail. Prices include shipping
and handling charges.
Mark Wade's colorful "Siskin Family"
portrait sells unmarred for 15.
Matted prints sell for $20 and $25,
depending upon the number of mats
which have been cut. These prices
include shipping and h a ndling
charges.
T-shirts are $15 total, which includes
shipping and h a ndling costs. Bo th
T -shirts are 50/ 50 meaning they will
have minimal shrinkage. One T-shirt
d esign fea tures the United Sta tes
( " hatched he re") and Venezu e la
("released here"), with a pair of Red
Siskins (order RS/ hatch) . The new
design T-shirt has three Red Siskins on
a branch , a pair and a juvenile (order
RS/ wild). This design describes the
endangerment status of Red Siskins in
the wild and our project goals.
